Painter of the Skies
I haven't just been harvesting flowers from my garden lately. . . these blossoms have been inspiring new poetry as well. My most recent poem came this week as I was cutting flowers for an arrangement as the sun was setting - the flowers perfectly matched the canvas of the sky, and I was struck by beauty of the Maker's colors on His canvas - the Universe.
Painter of the Skies
Great Painter of the Skies
You're the Painter of my garden
&
The Painter of my life.
The colorful gleams that across the heavens stream
Burst into my dark, fearful soul.
Shadowy and Overcast
filled with thistles and weeds
Overgrown by inches. . . more each day it seems.
Prune away this undergrowth
And uproot these dreaded tares.
Refresh with morning dew
(as my face feels damp by mourning dew)
Shine again the color of day
Hues of pink and purple gleams
Renewed by the promises You say.
Mercy shines down upon this place
Help me continually seek Your face.
Sweet Emmy! Thank you for sharing this lovely poem! May Jesus keep blessing the work as you "add to the beauty" through your life!
ReplyDeleteI love your poems. May God continue to prune away the weeds and overgrowth in our lives and shine through with beautiful colors as we daily seek His face. Amen!
